*Gearbox conversion vlog part 1

Right, this has been mind bending and a lot of work – I’m going to try to put it together into some sort of video but please bear with it. There was SO MUCH to do and I’ve tried to film as much as I can but it’s really taken it’s tole on me. So tired. At times I missed bits as I just needed to make progress and didn’t film. Sorry!

So this is me manual converting the Soarer. I’m using the PMC Motorsport kit. Others are available such as Collins and ABC, some cost more, some less, make your choice!

Box wise I’ve bought the e46 M3 box, this has good ratios and 6^th gear by my calculations is only a touch shorter than 4^th in the auto box, so no diff work needed. Be careful of 5 speed and ZF boxes as they are really short. Eg. 5^th in most is 1:1 ratio – which is the same as 3^rd in the auto box – so your top speed will be 125mph and 70mph cruising speed will be really high in the rev range.
